Sentora CLO says SEC remarks on crypto vaults signal DeFi regulatory formalization Michael Bassett, chief legal officer at institutional DeFi platform Sentora, said remarks by U.S. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce on crypto vaults and on-chain lending signaled that discussions about bringing DeFi into the regulatory fold were gaining momentum, rather than pointing to tighter regulation. Bassett said Peirce had reaffirmed the SEC’s existing view that activity implemented on-chain does not automatically fall outside the scope of federal securities laws. He added that the more important point was the SEC’s public acknowledgment that crypto vaults and on-chain asset management strategies require separate regulatory discussions. Bassett said the SEC wants to develop a regulatory framework through dialogue with the industry that addresses both innovation and investor protection, and described the remarks as a meaningful signal about the future regulatory direction rather than a new rule or enforcement action. Peirce had previously said that simply depositing crypto assets on-chain does not automatically exempt related activity from federal securities laws.

White House crypto official says BRCA amendment diverges from administration stance Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House crypto council, said an amendment to the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, or BRCA, incorporated into the CLARITY Act is nowhere close to the White House and U.S. Treasury Department’s position, according to Cointelegraph. BRCA was originally introduced as a standalone bill and has since been folded into the CLARITY Act. The provision would establish legal protections to ensure non-custodial blockchain software developers are not treated as money transmitters.

BTC may be nearing the end of its bear market, with a trend reversal becoming more likely as the downtrend gradually weakens, according to a CryptoQuant analysis. CryptoQuant said declines following Bitcoin’s all-time high have been getting shorter while rebounds have been growing larger. The drop in early July fell only slightly below the low seen in early February, and BTC has since held relatively steady around $60,000, suggesting selling pressure is easing. It added that technical indicators were also constructive, with the MACD and RSI showing a bullish cross, bullish divergence, and oversold signals consistent with bottom formation. Still, CryptoQuant said a final wave of selling remains possible and projected the ultimate bottom could form around $51,336. It added that the area near $50,000 overlaps with a major historical support zone, holders’ average cost basis, and the 200-week moving average, creating conditions similar to past bear-market bottoms.

Earlier, Lookonchain said an address linked to Selini Capital deposited 495,000 HYPE worth $26.8 million to OKX five hours earlier.

Crypto exchanges are rapidly expanding into tokenized traditional financial assets as competition intensifies with traditional finance and decentralized exchanges, Cointelegraph reported. The market capitalization of tokens tied to traditional assets including precious metals, U.S. stocks, commodities, global indices and foreign exchange rose about fivefold to $6.6 billion in June this year from $1.4 billion in January last year. The survey covered major exchanges including Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, Gate and MEXC. Precious metals tokens led the market’s early growth, but U.S. stock products later gained traction quickly. By mid-2026, U.S. stock perpetual futures had surpassed precious metals products in both trading volume and open interest, amid strength in semiconductor-related names and expectations for IPOs. Most trading was concentrated in perpetual futures, while spot trading remained relatively limited. Cointelegraph said the derivatives-heavy market structure reflects investors’ preference for leverage as well as exchanges’ ability to list perpetual futures without directly holding tokens tied to the underlying assets.
