Grayscale Research Head Zach Pandl said proposed tokenomics changes under review for Ethereum and Solana could reduce supply and add upward pressure on prices if implemented. According to Grayscale’s own estimates, ETH’s annual supply growth rate could fall to about 0.4% and SOL’s to about 1.1% by the end of 2031 if the proposals are adopted. Pandl said lower new issuance would also reduce the amount of tokens distributed as staking rewards, but scarcer circulating supply could support prices. He added the changes could benefit ETH and SOL holders who do not stake, while staking users would need to weigh lower rewards against potential price gains. With both proposals still under discussion in their respective communities, Pandl assessed that the Solana proposal has broader support and is more likely to be implemented.

Ireland will tighten verification requirements for transfers involving self-custodied crypto wallets, Decrypt reported, as the country unveils its first national anti-money laundering strategy. Crypto service providers will be required to verify information on both senders and recipients in such transfers, and to apply enhanced customer due diligence when dealing with overseas crypto firms. The move is in line with the Financial Action Task Force’s Travel Rule, which requires sender and recipient information to accompany transfers. The strategy is set to run through 2030. Separately, the EU plans to ban crypto service providers from offering or holding anonymous accounts starting in July 2027, though self-custodied wallets will be excluded from the ban.

Strategy pushed back against MSCI’s review of changes to its Global Investable Market Index inclusion criteria for non-operating companies, saying the proposed revisions could remove firms such as Strategy and Metaplanet from the index. Strategy said "digital assets are assets" and argued index providers should reflect markets rather than decide which assets companies can hold. The company added that MSCI’s review does not align with the views of regulators, the market, or clients that use MSCI indices, and said BTC does not need MSCI, nor does Strategy.

Sygnum’s head of custody and staking, Thomas Brunner, said banks should begin preparing in 2027 if they want enough time to overhaul custody systems ahead of Ethereum’s planned quantum-resistant transition in 2029, according to CryptoSlate. Brunner explained future quantum-resistant signature methods would require strict controls, including a ban on reusing the same key, while banks often duplicate systems or roll them back to earlier states during backup and disaster recovery processes, creating conflicts with existing operating models. Brunner added that identifying a bank’s cryptographic keys and related systems alone can take six months to one year, followed by hardware support, certification, internal reviews, external audits and regulatory reviews. Meanwhile, Ethereum developers are considering completing a quantum-resistant transition for Layer 1 by 2029, although the timeline has not been finalized.

NFT volume on Robinhood Chain reached $3.13 million, about 2.3 times Ethereum’s $1.35 million. The Data Nerd said a substantial share of the inflows was likely driven in the short term by FOMO as a new chain emerged, adding that such volume is rarely sustained. Evernode Holdings, an XRP accumulation company listed as DAT, plans to revise the terms of its upcoming Nasdaq listing by changing the basis for new share issuance from $2.36 to XRP’s price at the market close, according to The Crypto Basic. The move is intended to align the company’s share structure with the value of its XRP holdings. With XRP currently trading at around $1, a continued downtrend would reduce the number of shares issued while increasing the amount of XRP backing each Evernode share. Evernode plans to complete the listing review and finish the listing process in late Q3 or early Q4. Separately, the company is said to hold 473 million XRP and, as of the end of last month, was carrying about $39 million in unrealized losses.

XRP withdrawal transactions as a share of activity on centralized exchanges have climbed to their highest level since 2019, according to an analysis by crypto analyst Amr Taha. Citing CryptoQuant data as of Aug. 14, Taha said XRP withdrawals accounted for 56.85% of Binance activity and 54.9% across all CEXs, while deposit shares fell to 43.12% and 45.0%, respectively, their lowest levels since 2019. The gap between withdrawal and deposit shares stood at 13.73 percentage points on Binance and 9.9 percentage points across all CEXs. Taha said exchange withdrawals are typically interpreted as a sign of holding intent. Taha added the metric is calculated on a seven-day basis, indicating a sustained shift rather than a temporary spike, and said the pattern appeared simultaneously on Binance and across all CEXs rather than being limited to a single exchange. Taha also said the indicator measures the share of transfer counts rather than XRP transfer size, meaning it does not by itself confirm net outflows or accumulation.
