Glassnode said skew in the Bitcoin options market, or the gap in implied volatility between call and put options, is signaling a bearish outlook. The on-chain analytics firm said the market’s weak tone appears to reflect a sharp decline in upside expectations rather than growing fear of a drop. It added downside implied volatility remains low, but upside implied volatility is even more extreme, having fallen to a record low of 23%, leaving almost no investors in the market betting on a Bitcoin rally.

USD1, the dollar-pegged stablecoin launched by World Liberty Financial, has surpassed $50 billion in cumulative trading volume on Binance about a year after its debut, according to on-chain analyst Darkfost.
Darkfost said the figures should be interpreted with caution, as a $2 billion institutional settlement transaction tied to Binance’s investment accounted for a significant share of new issuance and may have distorted the current numbers. Even so, Darkfost said USD1’s weekly trading volume on Binance is holding at $750 million to more than $2 billion, indicating steady growth in actual usage. Given Binance’s share of stablecoin trading, Darkfost said the trend points to meaningful growth. USD1 was launched in March last year by World Liberty Financial, which was co-founded by U.S. President Donald Trump’s family.

Bitcoin’s 30-day implied volatility has fallen to 36%, a long-standing low, but lower volatility does not necessarily mean lower risk, CoinDesk reported.
Lower volatility reduces trading costs, encouraging investors to build large directional bets and hedge positions, which also leaves market makers exposed to significant risk. Once the market starts moving, both sides tend to manage more positions, adding to price swings. Paul Howard, a Wincent official, said weakening put option demand and a lack of strong buying for upside risk suggest Bitcoin is nearing the lowest price range of this bear market and could bottom within weeks.

Altcoin perpetual futures open interest fell about 15% over the past month, while BTC rose about 8%, CoinDesk reported.
CoinDesk said altcoins are struggling to attract investor interest without a strong Bitcoin rally. The outlet said BTC has become more firmly integrated into capital markets through ETFs, institutional hedging, basis trades and use as collateral, while most altcoins have yet to build that kind of foundation. It added that many projects have not presented a clear structure showing how token value accrues to investors, leaving them more vulnerable in a bearish market like the current one. CoinDesk also said the weakness was driven by tech stocks, while market participants are watching for funds that had left crypto during the AI investment boom to flow back in.

BTC could fall to $44,016 by late October, BTC.top founder Jiang Zhuoer, the founder of the China-rooted mining pool, said, arguing that the current downturn based on Bitcoin’s four-year cycle has not yet matched past bear markets in either duration or depth.
Jiang said the previous three bear markets all posted similar time frames and drawdowns, while this year has not yet reached that range. Based on past cycles, he said the maximum declines were 86.9%, 84.1% and 77.6%, and projected a 65.1% drop in the current cycle, which would put BTC at $44,016 by late October.

About $10 million worth of cryptocurrency was stolen from TripleA on July 25.

CoinShares said tokenized real-world assets are becoming established as actively used assets in onchain finance, according to Cointelegraph.
In a report, CoinShares said RWA deposits on DeFi platforms reached $7.4 billion in the second quarter of this year, more than tripling from a year earlier, while total DeFi deposits fell around 15%. CoinShares said this suggests demand for RWAs is being driven by practical use cases rather than broader market sentiment. The firm added that if a specific asset class grows even as the broader ecosystem remains sluggish, the demand stems from financial utility rather than market cycles, and that the RWA market is entering a new phase as investors use the assets as collateral, yield-generating instruments, and products for onchain trading.

According to the FT, fraudsters have been targeting users of crypto firms that ended services or withdrew under MiCA by posing as financial authorities or duly licensed companies. The scammers have been circulating fake notices and phishing sites claiming users must transfer assets to an approved account or complete urgent KYC verification. The EU halted the operations of crypto firms that failed to obtain licenses after the MiCA transition grace period ended on July 1. Regulators stressed that scams are spreading around user asset transfer procedures during that process and said investors should verify whether any guidance is official.

Andreessen Horowitz founder Marc Andreessen said on the "a16z Crypto Show" that views in the U.S. Congress are shifting as the crypto industry has survived an intense U.S. government regulatory crackdown.
Andreessen said some lawmakers see crypto as a meaningful industry after efforts to eliminate it failed. He also stressed the need for a clear, permanent U.S. regulatory framework for crypto, adding that a regulatory vacuum could mainly benefit offshore operators such as FTX and lead to user harm. To help U.S. companies operate responsibly, Andreessen said an institutional foundation such as the CLARITY bill is needed.
