On-chain analyst Darkfost said Bitcoin long-term holder profitability is recovering, a pattern that has appeared near the end of past bear market cycles. Darkfost said Bitcoin’s LTH SOPR, or the spent output profit ratio for long-term holders, has moved back above its annual average of 1.10 and is holding that level. That suggests long-term holders realized an average profit of about 10% over the past year. As of today, the weekly average stood at 1.25 and the monthly average at 1.16, with both above the annual average. Darkfost said this signals market conditions have improved enough to put long-term holders back in profit, and described the recovery in long-term holder profitability as an interesting signal when compared with patterns that marked the end of previous bear markets.

Eclair, a Bitcoin Lightning Network node software client, has merged fixes into its master branch for two critical flaws that could drain node funds through excessive mining fees during channel openings and splicing, a technique that adjusts Bitcoin capacity without closing a channel. The patch set, PR #3388 and #3390, blocks a loophole that could let a malicious counterparty abuse RBF to force the other node to pay high mining fees and strengthens validation logic against false transactions. The latest official release remains v0.14.3 from September, so Eclair node operators are advised to verify whether the October patch code has been incorporated into their own builds.

Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee said a roughly $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion generational wealth transfer between 2026 and 2028 could help drive the next crypto bull market, as younger heirs tend to have a higher appetite for risk assets. Lee, a Wall Street veteran who co-founded financial research and asset management firm Fundstrat in 2014 and serves as its chief investment officer, cited estimates from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and Fundstrat in saying about $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion in wealth is expected to change hands from 2026 to 2028. Lee said younger generations receiving inheritances show stronger risk appetite for virtual assets and stocks, and the ongoing wealth transfer is expected to support the coming crypto bull market. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev previously made a similar point in an interview with CNBC, saying more than $100 trillion in wealth will shift from older generations to younger ones over the coming decades, and a larger share of inherited funds than in prior generations could flow into virtual assets, creating additional demand.

Representative deals include Stripe’s acquisition of Bridge for more than $1 billion, Mastercard’s acquisition of BVNK for as much as $1.8 billion, and Circle’s acquisition of Tazapay for $400 million. Clearer regulatory frameworks and surging demand for real-time cross-border settlement drove the large deals. In 2025, adjusted stablecoin transaction volume jumped 91% from a year earlier to $10.9 trillion, closing in on Visa’s $14.2 trillion, while real-world payment volume more than doubled to $390 billion, accelerating the convergence of traditional finance and on-chain payments infrastructure.

Harneys, a global law firm, and tokenization platform DropRWA plan to issue a tokenized catastrophe bond in early 2027 with legal ownership recorded on-chain, CoinDesk reported. According to Swiss Re, insured losses covered just $107 billion of $220 billion in global natural disaster losses last year. While traditional catastrophe bonds have typically catered to large institutions with minimum investments of $250,000, the tokenized structure is intended to broaden fractional access to the asset and expand access to capital. It is also expected to serve as a dedicated funding channel for high-risk disasters such as floods and typhoons in Southeast Asia, where limited loss data has often kept traditional reinsurers away.

However, complaints spread on X, formerly Twitter, from alleged victims who said they were forced on-site to install an app capable of remotely controlling their devices, and the matter has reportedly been taken to police.

Bitcoin is retesting support after breaking above the top of its recent range, and buying interest is urgently needed to defend the $80,000 level, well-known trader Killa said. Killa said if strong buying does not emerge at the $80,000 support level, the latest rebound could act as a trap that draws in investors before a further correction toward $76,000-$78,000, making this a key inflection point for Bitcoin’s next move. Killa added there is no need for Bitcoin to sweep the previous low again to secure liquidity, noting the market has already seen around $2 billion in forced liquidations.

BTC could face a deeper pullback to $77,400 if it falls below $81,300 and ETF outflows continue, according to a Bitfinex Alpha report. Bitfinex said the recent BTC correction resembles declines seen during past recovery phases, while there has been no sign of large-scale selling by investors who bought within the previous trading range. Spot buying demand, however, remains weak. Bitfinex added that the average purchase price for investors in spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds is estimated at about $84,340, and with BTC now trading below that level, some investors who reach break-even during a rebound could emerge as sellers.

Crypto analyst KillaXBT said Bitcoin’s short-term holder, or STH, supply has entered an overheated zone similar to past market cycles, suggesting the market may have already formed a bottom. KillaXBT said that in previous cycles, BTC moved out of its macro low before short-term holder supply expanded to overheated levels. The similar pattern now appearing is another signal supporting a market bottom, KillaXBT said. In 2023, after the metric reached an overheated zone, BTC maintained its higher-timeframe, or HTF, uptrend and posted further gains, according to the analyst. With a similar pattern now being observed, KillaXBT said there is no need to be overly swayed by the fear and greed index, adding that irrational market behavior can persist far longer than expected.
